Reviewer Qualifications

The Office of Head Start relies on a group of qualified Reviewers who possess the skills to conduct reviews. New applicants must meet a set of requirements in order to qualify. Danya International, Inc., is responsible for recruiting, screening, and managing the Reviewer group.

To be qualified as a Head Start Reviewer, applicants must submit an online screening form detailing how they fulfill the five core requirements, which include:

1. Content Area Expertise

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of and the ability to apply Head Start and Early Head Start Programs by being able to link issues that apply to service areas and systems when monitoring a grantee’s program

2. Knowledge of Head Start and Early Head Start Standards

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the most current Head Start Performance Standards and other regulations, including OHS Program Instructions, Information Memorandums, and Policy Clarifications

3. Investigatory and Monitoring Skills

  • Demonstrates a proven ability to gather and analyze data for reports using the OHS Monitoring required methods (observations, interviews and documentation review)

4. Writing Skills

  • Writes narratives that clearly provide conclusions of compliance or non-compliance

5. Computer and Software Skills

  • Demonstrates a proven ability to use a laptop computer including the use of a router, as well as the ability to upload and synchronize to the OHS Monitoring Software with little or no assistance

The screening process begins upon submission of the screening form, which is reviewed by a screening panel that makes an initial determination. The applicants who meet the qualifications are then required to complete an online computer test and submit their education and employment credentials for verification. Upon completion of the computer test and verification of the educational and professional information, applicants are contacted by a member of the Danya screening panel to complete a phone interview.

Applicants who meet all of the above qualifications will then be asked to complete the training requirements before accepting the Master Agreement and Review Requirements & Travel Policies. All requirements must be completed before participating in the initial review.
